About this deck

Twenty-eight questions spanning about four thousand years: pharaohs, empires, revolutions, world wars, and the space race. Each question has four options and exactly one right answer; you get instant feedback, a streak counter, and a report at the end with your score and every miss laid out with its correction.

The questions favor the load-bearing facts of history, the ones other events hang from. Knowing the French Revolution started in 1789 anchors Napoleon; knowing Sputnik flew in 1957 explains the entire space race; knowing the Magna Carta was English and medieval explains a surprising amount of modern law. The wrong options are dates and names close enough to be genuinely tempting, because that's the difference between a quiz and a formality.

Use it solo to find the century where your knowledge goes quiet, or run it with family and discover that someone's confident answer about the Titanic is wrong in a new and interesting way. Retakes reshuffle the answer order, and your best score is kept in your browser. The US Presidents flash card deck on this site makes a good study partner for the American questions.

Frequently asked questions

What periods does this history quiz cover?
Ancient Egypt and Rome through the Cold War, with stops at the Renaissance, the age of exploration, both world wars, and the space race. It's world history, not just one country's.
Are the dates and facts verified?
Yes. Every answer is a settled historical fact (1789, 1912, 1969), and questions with genuine historical debate were left out rather than forced into one answer.
Is this quiz good for students?
Yes. It maps well onto what world-history survey courses actually test, and the end-of-quiz miss review is an efficient list of what to revisit.
Can I retake the quiz?
Freely. Answer positions reshuffle each run and your best score is saved in your browser.
