Road Trip Questions for Families

About this deck
Fifty questions built for the specific physics of a family car: mixed ages, limited patience, and a shared destination. Every card can be answered by a seven-year-old and by the adult driving, and the best ones produce different answers from each — which is the whole entertainment. No trivia knowledge required, no screens involved, no pieces to drop between the seats.
The deck mixes imagination questions (design a theme park, name our family band), preference battles (best season, breakfast-for-dinner rulings), and gentle family-history prompts that get parents telling stories the kids haven't heard. That last category is the sleeper hit of any long drive — kids who won't answer 'how was school' will happily interrogate a parent about their childhood bedroom.
Practical format: whoever's turn it is gets the question first, then it goes around the car — youngest to oldest keeps things fair. Shuffle is on by default so every trip deals differently. Heart the questions that worked and they'll be waiting in your browser for the drive home, with a copy list in the session report.
Frequently asked questions
- What ages do these questions work for?
- Roughly six and up, with no ceiling. Every card was checked against two tests: can a young kid answer it, and will an adult's answer still be interesting? Cards that failed either test didn't make the deck.
- How do we play in the car?
- One person draws (a passenger, please), reads the card aloud, and everyone answers — youngest first works well. No scoring. When a question sparks a tangent, follow the tangent; that's the game working.
- Are these just for road trips?
- No — they work at dinner tables, campsites, and waiting rooms. The car is just where families are most reliably trapped together with nothing better to do.
- Is the deck free?
- Yes — all 50 questions, free, no app to install. It runs in the browser, and favorites are saved on your device.
