A small number of words does most of the work in any language. This deck collects 100 Spanish words worth learning first: greetings and politeness, the question words, subject pronouns, the thirty-odd verbs that power everyday sentences, and the nouns, adjectives, and time words that fill them out. Spanish on the front, English on the back.

The verbs deserve special attention. Spanish splits "to be" into ser (lasting traits) and estar (states and locations), and "to know" into saber (facts) and conocer (people and places) — the cards note the distinction so you learn the right one from day one. Nouns come with their article (el agua, la casa) because learning gender with the word is far easier than bolting it on later.

Work through the deck a chunk at a time rather than all 100 at once — twenty cards a day for a week beats one heroic session. Grade yourself honestly; misses re-queue automatically and the end-of-session report lets you re-drill just the words that didn't stick. Pair the deck with hearing real Spanish (music, shows, a patient friend) and these 100 words will start assembling into sentences surprisingly fast.
