About this deck

This deck covers 45 national capitals across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Oceania, and the Americas. Country on the front, capital on the back. Flip to check, grade yourself, and let the deck re-queue whatever you miss so the tricky ones come back around.

World capitals trip people up for the same reason US state capitals do: the famous city often isn't the capital. Australia's is Canberra, not Sydney. Turkey's is Ankara, not Istanbul. Canada's is Ottawa, not Toronto. Brazil purpose-built Brasília in the 1950s specifically to move the capital inland from Rio de Janeiro. Once you've been wrong about a few of these, the corrections stick, which is the whole point of testing yourself instead of re-reading a list.

The selection sticks to capitals with a clear, single answer, so you won't hit edge cases with disputed or split capitals mid-drill. It's a solid base for geography class, quiz-night prep, or general knowledge. Run the full deck once, then use the session report to re-study just your misses. Your best score is saved in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How many capitals are in this deck?
45: a spread across every inhabited continent, weighted toward the countries that come up most in school units, quizzes, and the news.
Why isn't every country included?
A few countries have split or disputed capital arrangements (South Africa has three, for example). This deck sticks to capitals with one clean, uncontroversial answer so every card can be graded fairly.
Which world capitals do people miss most?
The ones that aren't the country's biggest city: Canberra (Australia), Ankara (Turkey), Ottawa (Canada), Wellington (New Zealand), and Bern (Switzerland) are common misses. The deck automatically re-drills the ones you get wrong.
Is this deck free?
Yes. The full deck, free, no account. Your progress stays in your browser.
