About this deck
Sixty questions for the conversations that start after the easy topics run out. These aren't interview questions or therapy prompts. They're the kind of question one friend asks another at the end of a long dinner, when the table has thinned out and someone finally says something true.
A good deep question has two properties: anyone can answer it, and no two people answer it the same way. That's the bar every card here had to clear. Some reach backward (what you'd tell a younger you), some reach forward (what you're quietly building toward), and some just hold up a mirror at an unusual angle. None of them have right answers, and the best ones tend to get answered twice: once quickly, then again honestly a minute later.
The deck shuffles by default. Draw one card and actually stay on it; a single question given ten minutes beats ten questions given one. Heart the ones that opened something up. They're saved in your browser, and the session report collects them with a copy button so a good conversation can leave a trail.
Frequently asked questions
- When should I use these?
- Long drives, late dinners, campfires, first months of a friendship, twentieth year of a friendship. Anywhere the small talk has run out and the company is worth more than that.
- Are these too intense for casual settings?
- They're deep, not invasive. Nothing here demands trauma or secrets. Every card leaves the answerer in control of how far to go, which is what makes people willing to go far.
- How is this different from the icebreaker deck?
- Icebreakers are built to be answered in thirty seconds in front of coworkers. These are built to be answered in ten minutes in front of people you trust. Different tools.
- Can I save the questions that worked?
- Yes. Heart a card and it's kept in your browser. The report at the end of a session lists your favorites with one-tap copy.
